Banned Substance List

These items must not be fed to PCAS cattle throughout their entire life, from birth to slaughter.

The following list of banned feedstuffs and substances is not an exclusive list but it clearly lists the substances that have been banned for use under the PCAS Standards to date. The absence of an item on this list does not mean it is allowable.

  • Grain product or by-products in any form such as whole, ground, cracked, flaked or toasted. Grain products are defined as a seed or fruit of a cereal plant, caryopis:
    • Barley
    • Corn
    • Millet
    • Oats
    • Rice
    • Rye
    • Sorghum
    • Triticale
    • Wheat
  • In the case of +HGP free and/or +Antibiotic-free then milk replacer containing antibiotics and growth promontants are banned.
  • In the case of +antibiotic-free than animal treatments or feedstuffs containing ionophore, such a monensin, are banned.
